Jay Shirokawa

Welcome to my website!

I’m Jay, and I grew up in Japanese culture and its food. When I was young, I didn’t really appreciate Japanese food. Sure, I liked some of it, but I preferred hamburgers, spaghetti and all types of snacks. But when I moved out and began living alone for the first time, I started to miss Japanese food. Unfortunately, there was no good Japanese food or grocery store near my old neighborhood. So what did I do? I started cooking!

My cooking skills have gotten better over time, but I’m not a professional chef. My cooking is more like home-cooking. And you know what? It’s pretty darn good!

Living in a high population area like Tokyo or any other major city in Asia can get you some pretty sweet ingredients for Japanese cuisine. But what about the rest of us peasants living out in the sticks? It’s not always easy to come by those hard-to-find items, and sometimes it’s just not worth it to spend all that money on something that’ll only be used once or twice a year. That’s why my cooking is simple and easy – so you can have great food without spending all your cash! And if you’re into that kind of thing, well, you’ve come to the right place!
